Appointed Personnel Organization Council (APOC)

The Appointed Personnel Organization Council (APOC) is the formal, elected, representative body for the Appointed Personnel Organization. The Council represents appointed personnel in the university governance process and structure. The Council acts as a clearinghouse for information, addresses issues, and helps develop and modify policies.

Association for Women Faculty (AWF)

The goal of the Association for Women Faculty at the University of Arizona is to achieve a campus climate which fosters the careers of women faculty and academic professionals by 1) lobbying the state legislature, Board of Regents, University administration and the Commission on the Status of Women, a presidentially-appointed group, for the rights of women on campus; these rights include equal pay, equal opportunity, and just treatment and 2) fostering an interdisciplinary community among women by promoting discussions and interactions on topics that impact women faculty and academic professionals.

Committee on Academic Freedom and Tenure

The Committee on Academic Freedom and Tenure (CAFT) shall have jurisdiction to make inquiry in two general areas: 1) matters involving contractual agreements between members of the General Faculty and the University/Board of Regents; and 2) internal matters relating to grievances against or by any member of the General Faculty. Protection of academic freedom and tenure is a principal obligation of CAFT. Tenured or continuing members of the General Faculty other than deans of any rank may run for CAFT.

Faculty Development Team

The Faculty Development Team is an interdisciplinary group of faculty and others working together to construct a program which will lead to the continual improvement of the educational process at the University of Arizona. The team aims to redefine teaching, identify innovative and scholarly teaching, stimulate dialogue and cooperation among faculty, and redefine the evaluation of teaching. Faculty Fellows Program

The University of Arizona Faculty Fellows Program was initiated in 1984 to promote student-faculty interactions outside the formal classroom environment, in ways that build community and enhance the learning environment for students and for the faculty participants as well.

Faculty fellows are a cohort of faculty members working collegially with each other and with students to enhance academic community and to impact the lives of students through developing meaningful relationships with them

The principal objectives of the Faculty Fellows Program are to support in their transitions into university life; to create a climate for them to make more informed decisions on critical issues; to foster in them an ever-deeping love of learning; to challenge their thinking; and to help them chart smoother paths to graduation.

Faculty Senate

Faculty governance at the University of Arizona functions under the Constitution and Bylaws of the General Faculty. The General Faculty has fundamental responsibilities in the areas of academic personnel policy; instruction and curriculum policy; research policy; student affairs policy; ethics and commitment; advice on budget and university support; and acts on such other matters affecting the welfare of the University. Representatives in faculty governance are elected by the General Faculty, or by a constituency within the General Faculty, to serve on the Faculty Senate or on one of several general faculty Standing Committees.

Faculty Women's Club

The Faculty Women's Club (FWC) was founded in 1930 by the wives of faculty members and female faculty who wanted to have an organization to promote the social interaction between faculty families and especially to be able to help integrate new faculty and their families into the University of Arizona and the Tucson community.

Membership is open to women faculty, the wives of faculty, the women or wives of Professional Staff, Academic Professionals, Administrative Officers, Research Associates or Post Doctoral Fellows at the University of Arizona or a Government Agency affiliated with it.

OUTReach

OUTReach's mission is to serve Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered (LGBT) faculty, staff and students by providing intellectual, social, and cultural support systems within the University of Arizona and Tucson communities. OUTReach acts as a "coordinating", inclusive body for the multiple LGBT groups on campus as well as providing a limited number of programs and services.
