Vacation Time
Qualifying Reasons and Eligibility

When an absence is not covered by Family and Medical Leave or Sick Time, a supervisor can decide whether approval of vacation time is appropriate and can be supported (see Business Considerations for Vacation Time). Factors to consider for employee eligibility are as follows:

(all must be present)
  • Departmental request process is followed
  • Supervisor decides to approve vacation time
 
  • Current benefits-eligible employee, except faculty on academic appointment and classified staff on initial probation
  • Has an available balance of vacation time to cover requested absence
