Excused Unpaid Absence - Classified Staff

Definition

An Excused Unpaid Leave of Absence may be granted from work for a period of twenty-eight calendar days or less for reasons other than those set forth in the Administrative Leave with Pay policy #208.

Eligibility

  • All Classified Staff regular and probationary employees.

Procedure

  • Employee requests the excused unpaid absence.
  • The employee's supervisor makes determination based on departmental requirements, workload, and/or other circumstances.
  • Upon approval, supervisor will sign off on the employee's time sheet.
  • The time sheet is adjusted by the departmental payroll representative to reflect the number of hours which the employee should be paid.

What Happens to Your Benefits?

  • This leave has no impact on the employee's current benefits. Any missed premiums will be deducted from the employee's paycheck upon return to work.
