Campus Announcements - Message to Campus, January 23, 2004

    Dear Campus Community:

In December of 2003, Human Resources announced the upcoming implementation of "UA Career Track," the University of Arizona's first on-line applicant and employment system.

Over the last month, HR has conducted several demonstrations of UA Career Track for over eighty business and administrative representatives. These representatives provided valuable feedback about how to further enhance this new system.

Overall, the response to the system has been overwhelmingly favorable and we are excited to begin transition activities as outlined below.

January 20- February 2 During the transition period, departments with critical hiring needs may post new job vacancies as "department collects". Other new job postings received in HR will be posted on UA Career Track as of February 2, 2004.
February 2, 2004 All existing "Jobs-on-Line" postings will be moved to UA Career Track. Applicants will begin applying for all open job postings on-line. HR will forward applications collected in Career Track to departments via email.
Beginning February 3 Training begins for first volunteer group of departments using the job requisition and job posting system
February/March All non-pilot departments will process paper Recruitment Forms and complete the HR on-line job posting format as usual. HR advisors will load recruitment and posting information onto the new system.
February/March On-line instructions and tutorials, training classes and demonstrations will be available to help departments transition to the new system April 1, 2004 Target implementation date for all department users.

Please note that departments with "open until filled/department collects" job openings may continue to collect and consider paper materials from applicants who see UA job openings advertised in periodicals or journals and who may be unaware of the new applicant system. All new applicants and visitors to the HR website will be directed to use the on-line system.

You can access more information about the Career Track System on the HR website. The Career Track webpage includes a series of FAQs that address a number of questions that have been raised about the system and the implementation plan.

Please help us spread the word by distributing the FAQ information along with this announcement to all interested parties.
