Purpose of Classification:
Employment as "High School Student" and "High School Student - Food Service" is limited to those individuals actively enrolled and attending a recognized high school or high school program OR those individuals who have just graduated from high school. High school graduates are only eligible to work for the period of time beginning with their graduation date through the date of the beginning of the next University of Arizona regular fall or spring academic session. Therefore, a May/June high school graduate would be eligible to work until the first day of fall UA classes in August, and a December high school graduate would be eligible to work until the first day of spring UA classes in January. Employees in a high school student job title are subject to the restrictions placed on the employment of children under eighteen years of age and are considered Classified Staff Ancillary employees. It is the hiring department's responsibility to terminate or appropriately convert employment when eligibility ends.
