    Title: Radiology Technologist
    Pay Grade: 42
    Pay Range
    (min/mid/max):
    $33,639/$41,668/$51,299
    FLSA:Non-exempt

    Purpose of Classification:
    Performs radiologic procedures on clients in a university student health center for diagnostic purposes.

    Distinguishing Characteristics:
    This is the first level in the series. Incumbents are required to lift or turn clients and work with potentially hazardous radiation.

    Example of Duties:
    • Positions and prepares clients for radiologic procedures, deciding on techniques and views to best demonstrate injury or illness.
    • Adjusts x-ray machine to proper setting for each examination; determines type of exposure and size of film needed.
    • Processes and develops x-ray films by using an x-ray developing processor machine; gives developed x-rays to clinician to read.
    • Enters radiologic procedure data into computer, coding data for billing purposes.
    • May type radiologic reports from dictaphone and delivers report to clinician.
    • Maintains records, reports and files of x-ray procedures performed.
    • May inventory and requisition supplies.
    • May assist in maintaining x-ray equipment by adding chemicals, performing minor repairs and keeping equipment in clean working order.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of radiographic procedures and standards.
    • Skill in operation of radiology equipment.
    • Ability to effectively communicate.

      Minimum Qualifications:
      • Completion of a two year training program in an approved school of radiology technology AND two years of radiologic technologist experience.
      • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
      • Licensed by the State of Arizona Medical Radiologic Technologist Board of Examiners.
