    Title: Athletic Services Coordinator
    Pay Grade: 31
    Pay Range
    (min/mid/max):
    $25,478/$31,090/$37,915
    FLSA:Exempt

    Purpose of Classification:
    Coordinates financial aid, housing, registration, tutorial programs and other services for student athletes.

    Distinguishing Characteristics:
    This is a specialized class and not part of a series. Incumbents have knowledge of and must work within NCAA and Board of Regent regulations for student athletes.

    Example of Duties:
    • Reviews and determines student athletes eligibility for financial aid; directs distribution of grants; authorizes aid packages; determines and verifies that all aid adheres to institutional and association guidelines.
    • Monitors student's progress to determine if the student can compete in athletic events and if student will fulfill academic requirements for graduation.
    • Coordinates housing arrangements for athletes; distributes resident life assignments and payments; issues bills for meal plans; inspects rooms before, during and after, occupancy making note of charges to be billed; makes any special arrangements needed by athletes.
    • Coordinates registration for student athletes; sets up procedures, monitors and reviews registration for compliance to guidelines.
    • Directs tutorial program; hires and trains tutors, matches tutors to athletes, coordinates schedules and arranges rooms.
    • Determines if new students are eligible to participate in athletic programs and receive financial aid; prepares certification form to be sent to athletic conference office and other institutional offices for recordkeeping purposes.
    • Processes financial aid and academic progress reports for distribution to athletic and conference office, Board of Regents and NCAA offices.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of government, institutional and association rules, regulations and guidelines for financial aid for student athletes.
    • Knowledge of institutional procedures and policies regarding registration and housing.
    • Skill in coordinating the work activities of others.
    • Ability to effectively communicate.

      Minimum Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration or related field AND three years experience in student counseling or financial aid awarding including working with student athletes; OR
      • Seven years of directly related experience; OR
      • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education as approved by Human Resources.
