    $27,389/$33,107/$40,128
    FLSA:Non-exempt

    Purpose of Classification:
    Applies insulation material to exposed surfaces of equipment.

    Distinguishing Characteristics:
    This and the Plumber are first in a series of four classifications. This classification typically reports to the Plumber, Lead. Working conditions - restricted movement, dirty environment, air contamination, extreme temperatures or hazardous materials.

    Example of Duties:
    • Applies insulating materials to exposed surfaces of equipment boilers, tanks, hot or cold air ducts or pipes and steam generators for the purpose of insulating, protecting or dampening.
    • Lays out, cuts, forms and shapes insulation.
    • Applies cements, foams and adhesives to insulation.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of the methods and materials for insulating.
    • Skill in fabricating, laying out and installing insulation.
    • Ability to effectively communicate.

      Minimum Qualifications:
      • Six years of experience in the layout, fabrication and installation of insulation; OR,
      • Completion of a four year federally approved technical training program for pipefitters.
      • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
