I've heard about the Ombuds group? What do they do?
The Ombuds group at UA is an informal means of problem resolution if you have a University-related dispute. An Ombuds representative is not empowered to change a decision, but through intervention or a clarification of matters, information may emerge to assist in the resolution of the dispute. Are there any classes or training available on the UA practices of finance, budgets, or time records?
The Financial Services Office offers classes in Financial Policies & Procedures, Budgets & Reporting, and Time Rosters. Training in Financial Policies & Procedures includes the financial reporting system (FRS) along with cash handling, and purchasing cards. Budgets and reports training provides a baseline of Accounting concepts and general ledger entries. Time Roster training provides an overview of effective use of the time roster system. The Center for Professional Development offers a variety of professional development courses designed specifically to enhance your skills and competencies. Where can I learn more about the different governance organizations at UA?
There are 3 main governance organizations at UA: Faculty Senate, Appointed Professionals Advisory Council, and Staff Advisory Council. The Faculty Senate is the governance organization responsible to the General Faculty. The Appointed Professionals Advisory Council (APAC) represents all professional appointed employees (non faculty) at The University of Arizona.
