    Information Technology (IT) Classification Study

    Introduction

    The University of Arizona's Human Resource Department, in cooperation with IT staff across the university, is conducting a classification study of Classified Staff IT positions. This study analyzes IT activities throughout the University and includes almost 600 employees in close to 50 Classified Staff IT job titles (job codes 71700-72200) and other Classified Staff employees who dedicate at least 75% of their time to performing IT functions. These employees represent 25 Colleges and Divisions and over 150 Departments.

    The study is divided into several phases:

    Status Phase
    Complete Gain approval & communicate with stakeholders
    Complete Gather job content information through a brief online survey and Job Analysis Meetings (JAM Sessions)
    Complete Analyze job content data and compare to existing job descriptions
    Complete Develop classification structures and draft new/revised job descriptions
    Complete Collect campus input on new and revised job descriptions that have resulted from the study
    May 1st Implementation of new information technology (IT) classifications
