    New Employee Retirement Overview - 30 day enrollment deadline*

    Retirement (Classified Staff) Mandatory participation in Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
    Retirement (Appointed Personnel) - Irrevocable Enrollment Mandatory participation in Arizona State Retirement System or in the Optional Retirement Plan, electing one of four investment companies: AIG Retirement, Fidelity, or TIAA-CREF.


    * Open enrollment for health, dental, life, and disability insurance occurs annually in August, with requested enrollment changes taking effect on October 1 each year. Open enrollment for Flexible Spending Accounts occurs annually in November, with enrollment changes taking effective January 1st each year. Outside of open enrollment periods, enrollment changes to pre-tax plans are permitted only in the case of a Qualified Life Event change (e.g. birth of a child, marriage, divorce, death, change in spouse's employment, change in dependent status). Life Event changes must be requested in writing within 31 days of the date of the status event.
