Safeguarding Your Privacy
The University of Arizona is committed to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and security of personal information for its current and prospective employees. We understand that employees entrust us with personal, educational and financial information, and we are committed to maintaining that trust. We regularly review our procedures and practices to ensure that your information is protected from unauthorized access.
Employee Identification Number (EID)
In accordance with A.R.S 15-1823, University employees are electronically assigned a unique Employee Identification (EID) number to be used as the personal identifier for University business systems and transactions. The use of an assigned EID restricts access of your social security number and other personal information to authorized users.
How and Why We Obtain Personal Information
The University of Arizona collects personal information in the normal course of business in order to provide services, facilitate business and financial transactions for your accounts, respond to inquiries from you or your representative, or fulfill legal and regulatory reporting requirements. This information may include, but is not limited to, personal demographic information, benefit and retirement plan elections, participating dependents and beneficiary designations. The University does not disclose nonpublic personal information about you, except as permitted by law (see Arizona Board of Regents Policy 6-912).
Notification of Use of Information
In cases where collecting and using personal information is not required by applicable law or policy, general notification should be provided by the requesting department or individual that defines the purpose for collecting that information and its intended use. If providing personal information is voluntary, this fact should be communicated to the individual providing that information.
Personal Information Collected Electronically
The University of Arizona (UA) provides electronic and on-line information and services to students, employees and the public to supplement services provided on campus. In addition to the Employee Identification (EID) number, University business systems include the use of network passwords, Personnel Identification Numbers (PINs) and other access codes to help safeguard electronically stored personal information.
The University does not obtain personal information about you when you visit our websites or through other online services unless you provide us that information voluntarily. If an individual sends an e-mail message with a question or comment or fills out a web-based form, and either form or communication contains personal information, that information will only be used to directly respond to the requestor, unless otherwise stated. The request for information may be redirected to another part of the University that may be in a better position to respond to the request.
Individual websites may provide additional information about privacy and UA websites may contain links to external websites. UA does not endorse or take any responsibility for the privacy practices or policies of any site not sponsored by UA.
