Annual Leave is paid time off earned by appointed personnel on a pro-rated basis according to their work schedule. Full-time eligible employees on fiscal-year appointments can earn up to 22 work days per year.
Eligibility
- Appointed Personnel who are benefits eligible.
- Employees may not earn annual leave during leaves without pay.
- Faculty members employed on an academic-year basis are not entitled to paid annual leave.
- Eligible professional staff members and eligible administrators employed for less than the full fiscal year will receive paid annual leave pro-rated to the period of their appointment.
Procedure
- Employees request approval in advance from the supervisor for the use of annual leave.
- Supervisors are responsible for approving and scheduling the annual leave of their employees prior to actual absences, and will accommodate employee requests to the extent that the workload and department requirements permit.
- The signature of the supervisor on the Employee Time Record constitutes approval of the annual leave.
- Annual Leave is not charged when official University holidays occur during a period of approved annual leave.
- The number of paid annual leave days available to an employee at any given time will be the number of leave days carried forward from prior years plus the number of days earned during the current year, not to exceed one and one-half times the annual allowance. Any hours over this balance will be lost.
- Eligible employees who resign or are discharged from the University will be paid their accumulated vacation hours not to exceed the amount earned in one year.
What Happens to Your Benefits?
- This leave has no impact on your benefits. Benefit premiums will continue to be deducted from your paycheck.
